It would be good to display how many outgoing invoices are in the respective tab.

If an invoice is currently stored in “disputed invoices”, then this is not immediately noticeable to a new clerk, as you end up on the “Open Invoices” tab when you click on “Outgoing Invoices” for the first time.

It could be handled in the same way as with “documents” in the contract.
